CLIMATE & ENERGY

  • He views natural gas as critical due to reliability concerns with renewable energy sources and has voiced strong opposition to electric vehicles and wind and solar energy 12 13.
  • Vance advocates for expanding pipelines and drilling wells, and has criticized federal regulations that, in his view, hinder the growth of the fossil fuel industry 14 15 16.
DEMOCRACY & RULE OF LAW
  • Donald Trump has taken a stance that undermines democratic institutions, as he has openly declared his intent to use the Justice Department for personal vengeance and weaponize it against political adversaries 22 23 24.
  • He has frequently called the 2020 election fraudulent, using this to justify violent rhetoric and actions, as well as to depict himself as a victim of a political conspiracy 25 26 27.
  • Trump's intention to act as a dictator on "day one" of his potential second term further emphasizes his disregard for democratic norms and the rule of law 28.
  • Vance's ideological influences include reactionary and postliberal thinkers, leading him to support authoritarian government restructuring and criticize democratic institutions 17 18.
